Biography
Carl is the CEO and founding partner of LyraChem.
His diverse brief includes responsibility for development of business and operations strategies, general management of the company, and project management responsibilities in close collaboration with LyraChem's scientific consultants and core staff. He has been a full-time member of the management team since LyraChem's incorporation in 2004 and following a major change of business direction for the company, he has been chiefly responsible for driving forward and developing the business to date. Recently he led the company through a second-stage investment round which led to expansion to new premises and recruitment.
Carl is originally a synthetic organic chemistry by training; after completing an MChem in medicinal chemistry at UMIST, he went on to obtain a Ph.D in natural product synthesis from the University of Durham Chemistry Department. Through experience of working within LyraChem’s multidisciplinary environment, he has gained much hands-on training in the fields of kinetic modelling, process simulation and reaction engineering. He therefore has a good understanding of both qualitative and quantitative aspects of process development and plays a crucial role in ensuring LyraChem’s vision of multidisciplinary process development and its associated benefits are passed on to its customers.
