Hugo G. Hiden BSc, Ph.D
Following his first degree in chemical engineering and his
PhD in the application of genetic programming to chemical process data analysis and modeling,
Hugo spent 6 years in industry developing advanced data integration, analysis and modeling
tools. At Avantium Technologies, he co-developed a workflow based data integration and
modeling product - deployed within Pfizer, GSK and the Dutch Polymer Institute (DPI). At GSE
Systems Inc, he specialized in the application of novel control technologies within the company’s
product line - including the commercialization of a batch processing monitoring package
developed in collaboration with Newcastle University and Biochemie (an Austrian
pharmaceutical company).
In addition, Hugo Hiden spent a year with Science Systems (software)
where he helped develop graphical spacecraft monitoring software, based upon Gensym’s G2
expert system. In addition, Hugo worked as a researcher within CEAM on a pilot project to
develop novel methods of employing GP for a range of data analysis and modeling tasks,
including non-linear PCA and PLS. For this work, Hugo won a “best paper” award at the GALESIA
genetic algorithms conference in 1997. Hugo has also published numerous papers on the
subjects of process monitoring, computer security and collaborative R&D.
