Katarina's main research interests are in the areas of mechanistic modelling and experimentation specifically focussed at reaction kinetics and reaction mechanism determination.
She graduated with a degree in Organic Chemical Technology and Polymer Engineering (First Class Honours) from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. She is the recipient of several academic prizes including the Mika Petrovic Alas’ Award for performances in fields of mathematics, chemistry and physics. In 1998 she received the Special Award of the Serbian Chemical Society for exceptional achievements in undergraduate studies.
After graduation she joined the pharmaceutical industry (Hemofarm, Vrsac, Serbia) as Senior Associate and became Head of the Solid Forms Plant Packaging Department and Packaging Maintenance Department employing over one hundred employees. Following this, she obtained her PhD (entitled: Data Analysis and Modelling of a Polymerisation Process on Spinning Disc Reactor) at Newcastle University.
